Swimming
I really want to make sure Nathaniel can swim and is comfortable in the water ... but the pools around here are insane. When I grew up, I think my parents paid about $100 for pool passes for my entire eight-person family. It looks like the pool within walking distance of us now requires us to have two people vouch for us, buy a $500 or so bond, then pay a couple hundred dollars per person to get in. Is that normal for this area?
Also, I wonder how early we should think about getting him swimming lessons. I don't think lessons at 16 months make sense, but I would like to get him comfortable in the water as early as possible.

my YMCA had a baby & me swim class which was fun. There's also a swim class for infants called ISR Infant Swimming Resource. You can look for a certified teacher in your area and they actually teach the little ones how to go UNDER water. Good luck
