My baby's been bit!
So I got a call from day care yesterday. That's pretty darn rare, so I'm immediately concerned over what might be happening ... and I'm told another child has bitten Nathaniel.
I know this happens. A friend who takes both of her children to the same day care has told me of her concern when she got a call when her older son was the biter in the past.
Anyway, the room coordinator called me to let me know Nathaniel was bitten, but he's fine. Apparently, he was playing/sitting on a chair and another child wanted the chair. I'm guessing Nathaniel didn't even understand the concept of giving up the chair he was in (after all, there are toys all over the place, so why would somebody else get the one he already has?). Well, the other child decided to handle things by biting Nathaniel, according to the report, on the ring finger of his right hand. The skin wasn't broken.
And Nathaniel probably reported the incident by screaming/crying. He's never had something like this happen, so he probably had no idea how to handle it.
In a way, I guess, this is his first experience with bullying.
I hope they all get handled this easily.

poor little guy! This happened to my son years ago and the panic you feel when the center calls in unbelievable. I am so glad he is ok!
Glad Nathaniel is ok! It can be traumatic for the victim and the parents. My daughter was the biter and from what I remember, it's just another way of expressing their frustration and anger when they don't have the words to do it! Hope it doesn't happen again!
My son was bitten many times in our child care years. All by different children. My son was bigger then most of the kids and I was told the were just defending themselves. Needless to say we moved child care facilities and these incidents stopped. If it breaks the skin you must apply an antibiotic.
